For well over half a decade Bimmer has held a stronghold on the number-one spot in the premium auto market. But, it looks like their time might just be up. Automotive News Europe has released a report which indicates Audi has successfully narrowed the gap between itself and their nemesis . The margin to date:  a mere 2,110 units sold.

This can be credited to widespread adoption of all new Audi models, yes. But there is a specific range that deserves the majority of the credit. That is the increasingly popular A-class segment.  Fueled by new cars such as the redesigned Audi A3, the automaker moved over 108-thousand units total in the month of August alone.  That's over 5,270 units more than Bimmer!

To put this forward-momentum into even better perspective: At the end of August 2011, Bimmer lead Audi by 40,000 units. At the end of the year, Bimmer was still in the lead; but Audi had successfully surpassed Mercedes.

Given these current trends, Audi North Scottsdale located at  18088 North Scottsdale Road Phoenix, AZ 85054 is confident that Audi will reign the luxury market even before their stated 2020 goal. And, in the meantime, it looks as though they're busy besting themselves. Taking into account over 960-thousand vehicles sold over eight months, it's possible Audi sells 1,300,000 units more in 2012 than they did in 2011.
